He is also Co-Lead of the Oral Clinical Research Unit and Head of the Centre for Host-Microbiome Interactions at King’s College London.
Professor Nibali is a prolific contributor to periodontal and medical literature, having published extensively with over 170 research articles under his name. He serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Clinical Periodontology – the official publication of the European Federation of Periodontology. Among his many accolades are the Sir Wilfred Fish Prize from the British Society of Periodontology and the Socransky Award from the International Association for Dental Research (IADR).
His clinical expertise lies in managing complex periodontal cases, with a particular focus on minimally invasive treatments for infrabony defects. His research interests span periodontal medicine, genetics, and microbial aetiopathogenesis, with notable contributions to the fields of periodontal infectogenomics and genetic dysbiosis, advancing our understanding of the intricate relationship between microbial triggers and host responses in periodontitis.
